Life Hack
Fall Asleep Fast
The military method involves a series of steps to help you relax and fall asleep quickly:
1. Relax the muscles in your face, including your tongue, jaw, and the muscles around your eyes.
2. Drop your shoulders down, then relax your upper and lower arms, one side at a time.
3. Breathe out and relax your chest, followed by your legs starting from your thighs and working down.
4. Spend 10 seconds clearing your mind before visualizing one of three calming images:
• Lying in a canoe on a calm lake under a clear blue sky.
• Lying in a black velvet hammock in a pitch-black room.
• Repeating “don’t think, don’t think, don’t think” to yourself for about 10 seconds.
